What are a few good vegetables to plant this time of year that is easy for a beginner (i.e., no green thumb)? Thank you!

radishes and herbs 2010/9/14 15:39
Radishes are pretty easy and as their Japanese name "hatsuka-daikon" implies, they can be harvested "20 days" after being planted (although a bit more according to my experience), so you can enjoy the results very quickly and then enjoy it all over again with the remaining seeds you've bought.

You can also try various herbs. For example, if there are specific herbs you like to enjoy with dishes from your home country, grow them. It prevents you from traveling all the way to your favorite imported goods market.

But keep in mind that plants are influenced greatly by the environment and weather. There might be certain spots in your home where certain plants are easier or harder to grow. Or a plant might grow well one year but will not in another year. Ask the seed shops for advise and enjoy your experiments!
