Lead in dishes 2010/11/29 10:38
Has there also been a concern about lead in dishes here in Japan? I would imagine newer dishes are safe, but if we have (nice, I like them!) dishes from long ago that we are still using. How can we be sure our dishes are safe? Also how new would the dishes have to be to be safe? Thanks!

Of course. Many products, including those imported from countries with different guidelines, have been banned.

There are several organizations you can refer to, but you can start by contacting your local public health center (hokenjo) if you are in Japan. If not, I'm sure there is something similar in the country you live in.
