Hi! Anyone here knows where I can buy chickpeas in Tokyo? Are they available in Ito Yokado? What is their name in Japanese? And are they sold here canned? Thanks!

I don't know about Ito Yokado but Yamaya has chick peas (though they have been sold out on multiple occasions).
I have seen them both canned and dried.
Chick peas are known as hiyoko mame (ひよこ豆).
You might want to consider buying them online as you can get them for much cheaper that way.
Maybe it's just the stores to which I have been but chick peas seemed have increased in price dramatically.

thanks kyototrans and edincoat! I'll try to look at yamaya first if they sell chickpeas canned since the dried ones are too much of a hassle. but if there's none, then i'll buy from one of the sites above. thanks! :))

Canned Garbanzo beans are available in the gourmet section of most hi-end dept. stores. can also buy canned or dry on-line from both FBC or THE MEAT GUY.

They are available in almost any supermarket - they're in small tins without any liquid.
