'I miss you' translation

Boku wa anata wa aitakatta desu
Means closely to I miss you or I want to see you!
Boku wa anata wa aitai desu! Means I miss you!
This is as close as i know how to get, for some English words or Japanese words do not translate exactly!

...the second one is wrong (it says "I think, and I want to see concerning you") and even the first one does not convey the feeling of "thinking OF you." It says "I think about you," in a very stuffy, unnatural way, as if saying in English "I think with regards to you" or "I think concerning you."

You can say: Anata ni aenakute sabishii desu.
Literally: I am lonely because I am unable to see you.
To Jeilyn,
"Watashi wa anata ni aitai desu" would be the way to say "I want to see you."
But saying that about someone who passed away would sound a bit out of place.
I would suggest: Anata ga inakute sabishii desu. (I am lonely because you are not here/around)

what is Koishigaru? does that mean i miss you to someone you like or i miss you as in normal EX. i wanna say i miss you to someone i like

"koishigaru" is a verb that comes from the adjective "koishii" (meaning something along the line of "dear" and "longing for"), and the verb means "to act like one is missing someone/longing for someone."
If you miss someone, you can write/phone and say to that person:
- Anata ga koishii. (I long for you/I miss you.)
This expression comes with a lot of feelings :)
...but the verb "koishigaru" can only be used to describe someone *else*:
- Kodomo ga mama wo koshigatte iru. (The child is acting like he/she misses the mom.)
