Just Wondering 2011/7/17 02:40
when I was studying Mandarin in the Air Force, my instructors gave me the name 赵Žu强, pronounced zhao4 zhi4 qiang2, i think (i'm kinda tone deaf), and i was wondering what that is in Japanese.

Joey,

Simplified Chinese characters are tricky - the first one in Joey's post seems to be —k, pronounced "yo-u" in Japanese. Given name Œi is pronounced "ke-i," but I cannot find the corresponding for the second character in your given name. Maybe it is –θ? Then it is "ya."

I see that the poster who asked a question about his name on 2011:7/17 02:40 found out (on another forum) that the traditional form of the kanji used in his name is ζβ, pronounced "cho-u."

A great number of characters used in Chinese language are not comprehensible because they do not exist in Japanese kanji usage.

Hello, my Chinese name is ‰½Žv瑋. I would like to know how to pronounce it in Japanese, especially the ‰½ of my surname. Žv瑋 would be pronounced shi-i I guess? Probably my name sounds quite awkward in Japanese c

Thanks for you help!
