Several new attractions have opened in Yokohama since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Below is a selection of some new openings that may be of interest to future visitors:

Yokohama Air Cabin

Japan's first permanent urban ropeway was opened in central Yokohama in April 2021. The roughly 600 meter long ropeway connects Sakuragicho Station with the Minato Mirai district in about five minutes while offering pleasant urban views. A one way ride costs 1000 yen, and a round trip ticket is available for 1800 yen.

Yokohama Hammerhead

Yokohama Hammerhead is a new international cruise ship terminal in the city's Minato Mirai district. Besides immigration facilities, the elegant complex also houses an InterContinental hotel, an attractive collection of dining and shopping options and a small park (without greenery) that is centered around a hammerhead crane. The terminal is well integrated into the district's transportation network, being served by various bus lines and Sea Bass boats.

Gundam Factory

Gundam Factory is a temporary attraction set up at the waterfront of Yokohama, a five minute walk from Yamashita Park, featuring an 18 meter tall, moving Gundam figure. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the exhibition period has been extended through March 2024.

Yokohama Station City

Not formerly known as Japan's most attractive railway station, Yokohama Station received a facelift with the opening of the JR Yokohama Tower in 2020. The tower features many floors of attractive shopping and dining, a cinema complex and an attractive rooftop terrace with a Hollywood-style "Yokohama" sign but with only mediocer views over the city.

Yokohama Marine Tower

The 61 year old, 106 meter tall Marine Tower has been under renovation since 2019 and will reopen to the public on September 1, 2022. Besides its observation deck, the renovated tower will feature a lounge space on the second floor, wedding facilities, and a small collection of restaurants that includes an Eggs 'n Things branch.

Uniqlo Park

The popular clothing apparel retailer Uniqlo opened the somewhat unique "Uniqlo Park" at the Mitsui Outlet Park Yokohama Bayside in April 2020. In addition to housing Uniqlo and GU branches on the first and second floors respectively, the third floor is shared by Uniqlo and GU and offers clothes for kids, toddlers and teens as well as an indoor play area. Moreover, the building features multiple outdoor play areas for children on the building's exterior.

Bayside Blue buses

The Bayside Blue buses started operating in summer 2020 along a route between Yokohama Station, Minato Mirai and Yamashita Park, connecting many of central Yokohama's tourist spots. The bus line utilizes beautiful, spacious articulated buses that operate 2-3 times per hour. The cost is 220 yen per ride (IC cards accepted) or 500 yen for a 1-day pass that is also valid on other buses and the subway in central Yokohama.
