The peak of the Yoshino Cherry flowering season is currently taking place in many parts of the city. Beside the Yoshino Cherry trees, the quite numerous Shirotae and relatively rare Taihaku and Takasago trees are now flowering and approaching full bloom. Unfortunatelly, the weather has been bad for several consecutive days and the forcasts do not promise an improvement soon. Today's weather was also bad, and, consequently, the light conditions for taking pictures were far from ideal.

In the small park between Granville Bridge and Burrard Bridge, the trees have already passed their flowering peak and have started loosing their petals. The rainy weather is likely responsible for a shortened flowering season this year.

They will not reach full bloom for another week.
