Haru Basho 2023 - Day 15
Another easy win for Komusubi Norizo gave him a yusho two wins clear of the field. With 32 wins and two yusho in three tournaments, the banzuke maker has a lot to think about with regard to a return to ozeki for the veteran. It's also a record 8th Makuuchi yusho with a strong scoring performance. Congratulations to Norizo!
Hironoumi and Hagenosenshi both won their final-day bouts in Juryo. However Hironoumi manages to retain a one-point lead over his rival to take the yusho.
The two Makushita leaders lost and it led to absolute chaos as we have a tie involving no less than ELEVEN players! Of these, Fujisan scores the most points and takes the yusho.
Congratulations to all the winners! Hope to see you back here in May for the Natsu Basho.

Haru Basho 2023 - Day 14
Norizo won again and only Yokozuna Pandaazuma and Sumio managed to stay within reach. A win for Norizo tomorrow would mean a record 8th Makuuchi yusho as well as 32 wins in three tournaments (two being yusho). That would mean serious consideration for promotion to ozeki. If he loses, he can still win on points as he is one point ahead of Pandaazuma and Sumio. It will be up to the chasers to score better than Norizo.
In Juryo Hironoumi and Hagenosenshi both have 11 wins but don't fight each other tomorrow. Hironoumi has a two-point advantage over his rival so a good win tomorrow would probably wrap it up for him.
Makushita has two leaders with eleven wins, and Shokiki has a two-point lead over Mokuseinoisu. However, if both lose tomorrow, Gansekiiwa and Fujisan in particular have a chance to overtake them in a tie.
Good luck to all the contenders!

Haru Basho 2023 - Day 13
Sumio suffered an extremely unlucky loss on day 13 and this allowed Komusubi Norizo to march on into pole position with two days remaining. Four players are just one win behind.
Hironoumi and Hagenosenshi won again to retain the neck-and-neck Juryo lead. In Makushita Fujisan and Shokiki lost and fell into a yusho-chasing group of six.

Haru Basho 2023 - Day 12
Of the leaders only Komusubi Norizo and Sumio came through with wins. The joint record holders for Makuuchi yusho now both lead with three days remaining. It's worth noting that Norizo now has 29 wins in three tournaments and although he is currently ranked at komusubi 31 would be enough for him to be considered for a rare ozeki promotion from the komusubi rank. He needs two more wins first.
Hironoumi and Hagenosenshi lead Juryo with 9 wins. And in Makushita we find Fujisan and Shokiki at the top of the leaderboard with 10-2 records.

Haru Basho 2023 - Day 11
All the day-ten leaders lost today so it's now a free-for-all in Makuuchi. Seven players are vying for supremacy, including both yokozunae, Sekiwake Kakushoyamaii (who had an absolute nightmare today) and ever-dangerous Komusubi Norizo. Completely open with four days remaining.
Hagenosenshi's brief trip to the top division led to a loss but he is still clear of the chasing field. In Makushita, Shokiki is now our flag bearer.

Haru Basho 2023 - Day 9
After a ludicrous day 7 and a more standard day 8, we find a new sole leader in Sekiwake Kakushoyamaii, who at 7-1 is putting in a good run for an ozeki return. Former leader Golynohana lost two straight days to fall into the chasing group of six at 6-2.
Unbeaten Hagenosenshi leads Juryo and is two wins clear of the field. And Tochinoshin, also unbeaten, leads Makushita.
by Pandaazuma, 2023/3/20

Haru Basho 2023 - Day 6
Former Sekiwake Golynohana is our sole leader as of day 6. Can the veteran keep the streak going? The two yokozuna along with Sekiwake Kakushoyamaii and Sekiwake Konosato are in hot pusuit with one Maegashira, Chankoyama.
Another former Sekiwake (Ganzohnesushi) leads Juryo with Hagenosenshi. Both are undefeated. And four players lead Makushita.

Haru Basho 2023 - Day 2
Welcome to the Osaka Haru Basho!
Looking at the banzuke, Sekiwake Andrasoyama is still on an ozeki run and he needs 11 wins for the nod. He is off to a 1-1 start. Yokozuna Pandaazuma is celebrating his fifth anniversary of yokozuna promotion and will be hoping for a decent showing this time out. He has a 2-0 start.
Special mentions to Yokozuna Yumezukuri and Makushita's Amaihata, who both scored the only ten-pointers on day two. Amaihata had the special privilege of meeting the day's single lowest score of three so we saw one of the most one-sided bouts ever.
The leaderboards are coalescing. Good luck to all the players.
