Hiking in Oze 2013/6/7 13:48
Hello,
I'm planning my holidays in Japan for my free time in early August (and later to different parts of the country in september).
I'm having quite some difficulties getting public transport information. Also because I choose more remote sites, since I don't like cities so much.

Now, on this forum I found a few topics concerning Oze but the links provided are outdated.
My plan was to make a full hike from Hatomachitoge to Oshimizu, including swamp, mountain and forest passage, it would take about 9 hours.
The problem is that on the seemingly contracting sources I've been able to find, the last bus leaves well before 4 pm. Forcing me to stay overnight (in an accomodation) or ony make a short walk of about 3 hours.

On this site it was reported that there is a bus leaving from Tokyo, I haven't found it so far, only from Numata and I believed it was the same bus I could ride from tokyo without transfer.

Can somebody provide me correct data on the bus schedules or any other convenient way of transport? And maybe a selection of overnight locations.

I'm planning to go around 10 August (I found that the shuttlebus to Hatomachitoge only opperates on Saturday in that period)
I'm hiking alone, but if somebody (or more) wants to join me we can maybe share a cab.

Sources I've used:

(I cannot speak Japanese btw)

Kind regards,
Stefan

P.S. I might ask similar questions about a few other locations like this on my trip, is there maybe english online information where all of these details are listed?

Sorry for my maybe rushed post.
I've been looking into it more all day, including one of the links provided on on older thread here: http://www.welcome-to-oze.com/
which I mistakingly thought is one hut, but they offer 5.
I found this website by quite a simple search which didn't turn up before wih other search terms:
http://www.japanguides.net/gunma/oze-national-park.html
Which has good information as well as decent links for almost all of the mountain huts.

I still believe the transportation is a bit limited though but with a nice stay you can see alot when you spread it over two days.

Here is the information about the Tokyo-Oze bus. It also leaves Oshimizu before 4pm:

Also, the buses to Hatomachitoge only operate on weekends during August. They operate until around 5pm. So, by hiking in the opposite direction, you would have a little more time at your disposal:

Thanks
Yes I noticed that the shuttle bus only operates in the weekends in mid summer. But since the huts are also cheaper on friday, I decided to walk the other way, from oshimizu to hatomachitoge and take the shuttle bus on saturday afternoon.
