Nikko, snow in January? 2013/6/13 13:33
We are travelling in early 2014 and will be at Nikko around the first couple of days in February. Can anyone tell us if we are likely to have much snow on the ground in the town area. We only have a day so likely not to make it much further than the temples and shrines, the gorge botanic gardens area and I believe there is museum down near there too.

Not so much looking for snow as we'll see plenty on other parts of the journey but wondering if we'd have issues getting around quickly if snow was heavy or a lot of ice.

Down in the town of Nikko, snow is not guaranteed. Sometimes there will be snow. Sometimes there won't. Further up around Lake Chuzenji, there is some snow most of the time - although not in great amounts, but even there it is not guaranteed, especially in early January.
