10 days itinerary in Hokkaido

Dear All,

I really need help in advising how to move about in Hokkaido(never visited Japan before)
We have a family of 4, with 2 kids of 3 and 6.
We are a sight-seeing bunch and not really interested into Shopping though good food is always part of our tour itinerary.

I guessed I had missed the flower-seeing season. Thus hope to catch Autumn leaves season(ca't see all these in Singapore).

I read alot about Biei and Furano, and some other threads( seriously no idea where those places are).

Can anyone give some advise. I will be staying for 10 days.
