Autumn foliage at Kamikochi

Hello,
I plan to visit Kamikochi on October 25, 2013. Even though it might be hard to predict, do you think the autumn foliage will still be its peak?
I will be staying near Takayama Station but would also like to visit Matsumoto Castle. Could you please suggest the best way and how long to get there on a limited budget?

Yes, usually the colors are around their peak in late October. Note that along the valley the colors are mostly of the yellow type. Don't expect a red maple tree forest.
