Hi, to travel from Osaka to Takayama, can I purchase JR regional passes to save cost? As the cities are split between 2 JR regions, it is advisable to purchase JR nationwide pass or is there a cheaper alternatives.

I'm on tour around Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe from Jan 10-15. After that I plan to extend on my own to visit Takayama (2 nights) and then Nagoya (2 nights). If JR nationwide rail pass is too expensive, which JR region pass should I go for?
