Hi!

We would like to stay in the New Furano Prince Hotel for 7 nights but which hotel would you recommend in Furano (the old or the new) is more Japanese ... we prefer to have a very Japanese holiday experience with minimal westerners.

I'm also looking for hotel + food + ski packages (with option for the kids to try snow board)

I would like to ask flights from Brisbane to Hokkaido direct vs the option of going via Tokyo, then bullet train to Shinkansen.

Then last thing, do you have any ideas for what else we could do for say 5 nights (not snow related and not a big city ... something country/unique/special that is less than 3hrs total travel time from Furano).

I'm planning a trip for my family as soon as possible. Please give of any assistance. Thank you!

I can't recommend specific accommodation but your options are rather limited as furano isn't that big. What you are looking for is called ryokan. You read up more here

If you are looking into package, you can look into travel agency website like japanican or your local ones (generally more expensive in my experience)

As for the flights, I don't see any direct flight through my searches.

Here are some stuff you could do in furano

You could also check out asahikawa (it is a city but not that big in my opinion) which is about 1hr away from furano by train

You probably have 2 options for flying. Either fly Brisbane to Tokyo and then fly from there to Asahikawa Airport which is the closest airport to Furano or fly Brisbane to Sapporo and take the train to Furano.
