I plan to visit Naha in March and will buy monorail pass to do city sightseeing. There are 1 and 2 days pass. But Japan guide.com information state it is for 24 hours period. If I buy a 1 day open ticket at 21:00 that means I can use the monorail up to 20:59 the next day. Or it expires at 24:00 on the same calender day.

Yes, unlike most other 1-day passes in Japan, the 1- and 2-day passes for Naha's monorail are valid for a 24- resp. 48-hour period rather than on one or two calendar days.
