What rail pass for Tokyo and Kyoto?

This is the plan, for 10 days of Japan:
4 days in Tokyo - taking transportation within the city and local trains to the nearby mountain hikes shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto 6 days in Kyoto taking trains to the nearby hiking trails train from Kyoto to Osaka airport.
This is my first trip to Japan and I am confused about which rail pass to get - I also wonder if there is pass that covers both trains and transportation within Tokyo.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

It depends on how nearby your hiking trails are. If they are a considerable distance from Tokyo or Kyoto, a pass may pay off. But for the Tokyo-Osaka trip alone it does not pay off. Here are your options for travel between Tokyo and Kyoto: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2363.html
