Can I use the Suica card in Kansai Region? 2014/8/31 12:22
Hi,

I will be going to the Kansai Region (Osaka, Kyoto, & Nara) this September and was wondering what card I can use for travelling. In Tokyo, we used the Suica card for all train rides we took. I've been reading a lot about the ICOCA card, but I also read up that a lot of the train lines in Osaka are accepting Suica card. I am not too sure if the information is accurate though.

Would greatly your help! Thanks in advance :)

Suica and Icoca are almost identical when it comes to use of trains and buses in the Kansai Region. There is just some minor additional buses that can be used with Icoca but not with Suica, such as the buses in Nara and Himeji. But apart from these minor differences, the cards function the same, and can both be used on most trains and buses in the Kansai Region.
