Transport from Takayama to Nagoya 2014/9/19 12:28

Hi I am planning for a trip in Dec from Takayama to Nagoya, confused about the transport and bus ticket between Meitetsu bus (Shoryudo) and nohi bus service.

1) Wondering does Shoryudo highway bus ticket is more valuable for my trip below or should I use Nohi Bus service which covers Hida Takayama? It has a 4-day pass @7000yen which covers Nagoya, Takayama, Shirakawa and Chubu centrair airport.

Day 1: Takayama to Shirakawago
Day 2: Shirakawago to Nagoya
Day 3: Nagoya
Day 4: Nagoya to Chubu Centrair international Airport

2) Is traveling by bus more cost saving than train for my trip?

Hope to hear from the expert's advise, thank you in advance.

The sum of the bus and railroad fares is 6940 yen.
A 4-day Shoryudo Highway Bus Ticket (7000) does not sound to be a great deal for this journey.
Logically this pass may pay off if you gain a benefit at a sightseeing facility / an accommodation facility, but Nagoya Railroad [Meitetsu] does not even mention the benefits in this webpage (#).

It seems you cannot confirm until you apply for this pass what kinds of benefits would be given at which facilities....

2470 yen: From Takayama to Shirakawa-go
by expressway bus co-operated by Nohi Bus and Hokuriku Railroad [Hokutetsu]

3600 yen: From Shirakawa-go to Nagoya
by expressway bus operated by Gifu Bus

870 yen: From Meitetsu Nagoya Station to Central Japan International Airport Station
by Meitetsu
(not including a charge on Limited Express service)

#1: A news release in Japanese language from Meitetsu, which was issued just before Shoryudo Highway Bus Ticket became on sale, briefly mentions benefits at sightseeing and accommodation facilities.

Hi, Omotenashi: Thank you for your helpful reply.

1) May I know is there English website of Gifu bus information and the bus timing? I had did a search and some remarks from few years ago that gifu bus only operate from April to Nov and only 1 bus trip per day.

2) I am trying to work out a best cost saving with comfortable transport for my family. I would greatly appreciate your advise regards the below routes.

3) It seem like most of the places that we wanted to visit are accessible by bus. Is there scenic view by train for any of the route below that is worth taking instead of travelling by bus?

Here is my trip plan route in dec:

Route 1: depart in the morning from Shinjuku by bus to Hakuba for 3 nights. Which express bus should I take? or should I take a train to hakuba?

Route 2: travel from hakuba to Takayama for 2 nights by Nohi bus

Route 3: travel from Takayama to Shirakawago for 1 night by nohi bus

Route 4: travel from Shirakawago to Nagoya for 2 nights by gifu bus

Route 5: depart Nagoya to Chubu Centrair International Airport by centrair limousine bus or Meitetsu train

thank you so much for your time.
