Weather in Kyushu/Shikoku Summer 2014/9/21 14:24
Hi All,

I used to live in Japan a few months ago but never got the chance to visit Kyushu and Shikoku.

What I wanted to know was in general how hot it gets down in Kyushu/Shikoku in July/August??

When I lived in Japan, I'd normally visit Tohoku or Hokkaido during summer, but I've travelled quite extensively in those areas. I have spent quite a bit of time in Kyoto in July so I'm used to hot weather - but I wanted to know if it gets much more hotter or humid than Kyoto in summer???

Best Regards,

Mathew Fedley

According to JMA, the average temperature and average vapor pressure of water for July to September is as follows

City, Latitude Temperature, Vapor pressure (hPa)

Kyoto 35 26.4 23.2
Matsuyama 33.5 26.3 24.2
Fukuoka 33.35 26.6 25.4
Kagoshima 31.33 27.6 27.0
Naha 26.12 28.4 29.8

Kyushu is hotter than Kyoto, however, the difference in humidity is more pronounced. In my assumption, difference of 1.0 hPa vapor pressure is equivalent to 1.5C.
