The age when you can make financial transactions in Japan - such as opening up a bank account, renting an apartment or signing up with a mobile company - without parental agreement is 20. For "moving" to Japan, there isn't any legal age required, but considering that in order to be employed and sponsored for a work visa (immigration requirement)you will need to have either a bachelor's degree or several or more years of relevant work experience, I'd say at least 22 when people can realistically plan to move to Japan.

If you want to experience living in Japan for 6 months or something in that range, for UK nationals Working Holiday Visa might be an option (for those under age 30).
