Beauty secrets in Japan 2015/4/26 12:56
I read an article that says Japanese women have flawless skin because they shave their faces. Is this true? How common is it for women to shave their faces and how often should they do it? Also could someone please suggest a waterproof foundation cream, preferably with UV protection, that Japanese women use in summer? I live in Japan and use Western makeup but I find that it's too heavy in summer especially with the humidity.

Not all Japanese women have flawless skin, but if you shave, of course your hair won't get in your way.

Not all Japanese women shave their faces, but I feel that there are women who take shaving for granted and those who take it for granted not to shave. For those who shave, girls who do not shave is out of the question, and vice versa. But if you look closely to cosmetics ads, you will notice that the Japanese models have their faces shaved.

The Japanese sort of have a tradition of having their face shaved at the barber, so those who follow that tradition simply keep doing it from the cradle to the grave. When I was a school girl, there used to be these quarrels over, "Hey, listen, she's never shaved! You're supposed to!" "No, you don't!"

How often should they do it? As often as women shave their "mustaches" or their legs, I suppose.

The following is a list of popular waterproof foundation cream with UV, in the order of popularity.

I'd recommend you check on Asian beauty:

I think this is mostly because of a good skincare reg and wearing SPF+ -- the sunscreen in Japan is very popular all over the world now because it's lightweight and doesn't leave a white cast.

Japan has very good skin care products.
They also use the double-cleansing method which helps with beautiful skin.

You can read more about it here:
