I plan to visit Japan in October, I read an article that says JR pass can only be purchase 3 months before the arrival in Japan and must be bought online.
Can any one confirm?

http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361.htmlIt can be bought either online or from a travel agency in your country (if they are an official JR Pass agency). You must buy it before you arrive in Japan, but I don't think you need to buy it 3 months in advance.

They will not issue them too early - I'm not sure if it's a particular rule or problem having too many issue, or a protection against exchange fluctuations?
Shop around for best price online - I normally check several reliable places that I have purchased from in the past, and lately I have been buying them from France - still only takes a few days to arrive.
