Tabimori - detailed train connections? 2015/5/22 19:02
Hello,

I want to visit Japan and I installed the android app TABIMORI for the train connections. I need to use this app offline because my smartphone doesn't work in Japan.
BUT the data in TABIMORI are detailed enough because the time table with date, time and departure track is missing.

Is there any other android app that I can use?

Thank you !

Volker

The train route apps all require a connection. If you have that then the best one is probably Hyperdia for Android

You may not be able to talk on your smartphone in Japan, but it very useful. Here's what I do.
1) Find the train info. you need on Hyperdia, put it in a suitable format on a text document.
2) Make a Screen Shot of the document and save it as a .JPG.
3) I load all the .JPGs into folders in my phone, one folder for each day. Even if you move days around you still have the info.
I also load maps, etc. Here are a couple of examples when I plan to go from Kanazawa to Kyoto and stop off to see a garden near Takefu.

Most major JR East stations have free WiFi. You can use it for 15 minutes I think.

If I were to spend all the time, effort and expense of a trip to Japan, I surely would not rely on possible Wifi connections.
