Rail pass for Osaka stay

I will be travelling to osaka for a 9 days trip in Dec 15. Need to find which is the best railway pass to purchase, cheap place to stay that near a station that allow me to move around for sightseeing. I need to visit a friend whom staying near nakuta station. Does the railway pass allow to travel there.
