Getting to Tokyo Skytree 2016/2/15 14:23
Hi! Would like to know if Tobu Skytree line Section Exp for Tobu-Dobutsu-koen is covered under the Tokyo Metro 1-Day Open Ticket? Also, we are planning to get to Tokyo Skytree from Tsukiji at about 8.30-9am. It's rush hour so I wonder how's the train crowd like? Thanks in advance!

Hi There.

Unfortunately the Tobu Skytree line Section Exp for Tobu-Dobutsu-koen is not covered by the Tokyo Metro 1-Day Open Ticket as the ticket is only valid for Tokyo Metro subway lines.

You could consider the Tokyo subway ticket which is 800yen and is valid on all the subway lines in Tokyo. I think this would be better value for you as opposed to the 600 yen for the subway ticket.

And yes the trains will be crowded at rush hour, but is unavoidable if you are travelling at that time of day. All part of the fun of taking the train in Tokyo

Hope this helps

Sorry, my error. It is 600yen for the Tokyo Metro 1-Day Open Ticket and 800yen for the Tokyo Subway Ticket

Re: Getting to Tokyo Skytree 2016/2/15 15:43
Thanks, Main777 :-). There are so so many types of discount fares! Can you kindly point me to the right one:

We will be travelling mainly on metro from Daimon to Tsukiji to Tokyo Skytree to Asakusa to Ueno to Akihabara to Ginza. Which would be the pass to Tobu Skytree line Section Exp for Tobu-Dobutsu-koen? Perhaps we could just take to Oshiage Station and walk to Skytree?

Thank you!

1)
Open subway rail map [PDF].
http://www.tokyometro.jp/en/subwaymap/index.html
Tobu Railway is NOT Subway(Tokyo Metro and Toei both).
http://www.tokyo-skytree.jp/en/access/

2)
Still crowded standing passengers a lot usual if regular weekday.
Just after "super busy time" as rush peak like these.

Re: Getting to Tokyo Skytree 2016/2/15 16:12
Hi there.

I would suggest using the Tokyo Subway ticket, more info on that can be found on this website or at this link:
http://www.tokyometro.jp/en/ticket/value/travel/index.html#anc03

For the day you have planned I would suggest the following after checking on Hyperdia:
-Toei Oedo line from Daimon to Tsukijishijo -180yen
-Toei Oedo line from Tsukijishijo to Daimon
Toei Asakusa line from Daimon to Oshiage -270yen
- Toei Asakusa line from Oshiage to Asakusa - 180yen
- Ginza line from Asakusa to Ueno - 170 yen
-Hibiya line from Ueno to Akihabara - 170yen
-JR Yamanote line from Akihabara to Kanda - 140yen
Ginza line from Kanda to Ginza - 170yen

So, excluding the JR Yamanote line trip which is not covered by the Tokyo Subway Ticket, The fare for buying individual tickets is 1140yen so buying the Subway ticket for 800yen is a saving.

Hope this helps

Re: Getting to Tokyo Skytree 2016/2/15 17:04
Thanks, Miwong and Main777. Yes, I was planning on getting the Tokyo Metro 1-Day Open Ticket for this day. Just wasn't sure on the Tobu part :-). Thanks for the advice and we will train to Oshiage. I believe from Akihabara to Ginza I can also take the Hibiya line to avoid the JR segment. But thanks for checking it all out on Hyperdia for me. After Main777 suggested Tsukijishijo Station, it does seem to be a better way to the Outer Market. I had originally routed for Tsukiji Station. Thanks a lot!

Incidentally, would you know if the restaurants in Tsukij Outer Market offer cooked seafood for breakfast? We love seafood but unfortunately not the raw sashimi... Grilled or boiled would be perfect. Thanks again!

The restaurants may or may not offer cooked seafood. You just have to check the menu or ask.

When I went to Tsukiji I went for the Sashimi after exploring the Tuna Auction, but cannot remember whether the restaurant I went to had cooked food or not

Re: Getting to Tokyo Skytree 2016/2/15 17:11
Btw, isn't the Tokyo Metro One Day Open Ticket \600? Main777 had mentioned \800. Are we talking about a different Ticket?

Re: Getting to Tokyo Skytree 2016/2/15 17:19
Hi There

To clarify. In Tokyo, there are two different subway operators, Toei and Tokyo Metro. The Tokyo Metro 1-Day Open Ticket is only valid on the Tokyo Metro subway lines, while the Tokyo Subway Ticket is valid on all the Subway lines.

There are a number of different tickets available covering various lines throughout Tokyo, however I suggested the 800yen Tokyo Subway Ticket as I felt this would best suit the travel you wish to do on that day.

Also, yes you can go from Akihabara to Ginza on the Hibiya line as well.

Thanks again Main777 for pointing this out! My goodness! Now I see AISE lines are under Toei. I had thought there was only 1 subway operator. We will buy the Common One-day Ticket for Tokyo Metro & Toei Subway for 1000yen. Thanks again!
