Trail to Subashiri 5th Station

Hello I am planning a trip to Japan and the trip will including climbing Mt Fuji. The intention is to climb the Subashiri trail but to follow it from the bottom of the mountain. My questions are:
1. is this possible? It seems that the trail begins at the 5th station. is there a trail from the bottom of the mountain to Subashiri 5th Station?
2. Is it possible to park a car somewhere near the foot of the mountain and how safe it may be to leave it overnight?
