11D10N Osaka-Tokyo initnerary suggestions 2016/7/30 12:28
Hi Everyone,

We're a group of 6 in our 20s and are going to travel to japan for the first time from 17th to 27th May 2017.
We'll arrive in Osaka in the morning on 17th and leave Tokyo during midnight on 27th.
So we'll be in Japan for 11 Days and 10 Nights.

here are a few things we've decided and need help with :
1. Shinkansen to Tokyo
2. Kyoto is a must
3. USJ in Osaka (we're not very fond of Disney Theme park)
4. Sanrio Puroland (optional)
5. Akihabara in Tokyo & Nipponbashi Den-Den town in Osaka (we're quite the anime & plamo fans)
6. all Accomodations will be with AirBnB although we'd like a suggestions for cheap accomodations as well.
7. trying various food is more of a priority.
8. A more private Onsen? but we'd like to avoid going 100% naked and covered in small towels. Two of us are ladies.
9. We have not decided on how many days to stay in each city.

Being first timers in Japan, we're quite paranoid to miss out on things to see or experience. so we wonder if we could get suggestions on our itineraries from experienced and generous people like you guys. Probably tips to save on transport too (Shinkansen is an absoulte must tho)

P.S I apologize if this question has been asked so many times. We're just paranoid lol. Please go easy on me :)

1. Very easy. All major JR stations have ticket offices indicated by green symbols of a person reclining in a chair. Go there with your train details (date, time, name of train, departure and arrival stations) and you can easily book a train. Writing the information down is usually best. You can find the train information using Hyperdia (hyperdia.com/en). Note the station that the shinkansen leaves from in Osaka is Shin-Osaka Station, not Osaka Station.

There are also some cost-saving passes available for one-way rides. Look on Japanican (you may need to take the shinkansen from Kyoto instead of Tokyo). Sometimes the shinkansen ticket comes with a hotel deal.

2. 3. 4. 5. What do you need help with here? You seem to already have decided to visit...This website has good information on those things.

6. AirBnB is not regulated in Japan and many are illegal. There are very strict rules for private apartment rental in Japan that AirBnBs usually don't follow. I would advise getting rooms at hotels or hostels. Business hotels are an economic choice, and always clean and comfortable. Look into chains like Toyoko Inn and Super Hotel (or Dormy Inn if your budget is a bit higher).

7. Very easy, many food places will display plastic models of the food they offer in their windows, so you can see what you like before going in!

8. Part of experiencing an onsen is being naked! It's surprising how quickly you get used to it. And onsen are almost always split into male and female, so you will only be around other women. A private onsen is usually expensive. You could try the various onsen theme parks around, which will have more people but you can wear bathers (swimsuits). There's one in Odaiba in Tokyo.

9. 2 days in Osaka since you're doing USJ, 4 days in Kyoto (or 3 days Kyoto, 1 Nara), and 5 days in Tokyo (with one or more day trips outside of the city).

For other ideas, have a really good look around this website to see what interests you. There is a lot to choose from!

what troubles us is having a lot to choose from.
we'll cram too much stuff in the itinerary, get exhausted and then forgot to enjoy them.
But maybe we're overthinking.

Thanks for your suggestions tho.
