I need some advise to improve my itinerary. I plain to buy a 7 days JR pass. I'm flying in / out of osaka. My tentative plan is as follows but I like to include Mt Fuji if possible. Don't intend to visit Tokyo.
Day 1 - Day 3 Kyoto Day 4 - Day trip from Kyoto to Nara Day 5 - Day 6 From Kyoto to Takayama / Shirakawago Day 7 - Day8 Mount Fuji or Day 7 - 8 Nagano - Yamanouichi - Nagoya
Day 9 - Day 12 From Mt Fiji to Osaka or From Nagoya to Osaka
Day 12 night - flight out of osaka
Is it possible to cover Mt Fuji on Day 7 -8 ? Seems like a very long journey from Takayama to Mt Fuji.
Please advise. Thank very much.

Takayama and Mt. Fuji are not directly connected. You'll pass through Nagoya to get to Fuji. A 7-day JR Pass will depend on what your final itinerary is. The costs won't be the same for your choice of itineraries. Use the following link to decide if a pass pays off: http://www.aoimirai.net/japan/jrpass_calculator.html
