Itinerary Advice: Tokyo to Kyoto via Alps 2016/8/17 06:46
Hi,

We will be in Japan for around 3 weeks in February 2017. We'll be starting our trip in Tokyo. We'd like to travel from Tokyo to Kyoto via the Japan Alps. We will have a JR pass.

This is our itinerary right now:

Days 1-5: Tokyo
Day 6: Travel Tokyo to Nagano (see snow monkeys this day or early next morning)
Day 7: Nagano to Kanazawa
Day 8: Kanazawa
Day 9: Kanazawa to Takayama (perhaps a stop in Shirakawago, but not a priority)
Day 10: Transfer to onsen ryokan in Takayama area
Day 11: Takayama to Kyoto
Days 12-21: Rest of trip (Kyoto/Osaka/Hiroshima/Etc.)

Is this itinerary feasible/too rushed? Do you have any suggestions for how we might do it differently? Our priorities are the snow monkeys, a full day in Kanazawa, and the onsen ryokan night. We could possibly add a full day to the Alps portion of the trip, but we would be taking away from Tokyo or Kyoto.

Thanks for any advice/suggestions!
