Staying in Tokyo for three nights 2016/8/30 05:29
WE have never been to Japan before so ere are starting to plan for our visit in November. We arrive at NRT airport on 10 November and plan to stay in Tokyo for three nights before moving on to Osaka. Could anyone answer these questions please

a) Can you recommend any good hotels around the train station which has the Osaka line.

b) We are both vegetarians - will this be a problem eating put in Japan. Can anyone recommend any vegetarian restaurants in the area we plan to stay

c) We will be staying in Tokyo for three days - what would you recommend we see and do in these three days we have in Tokyo.

Thank you

1. Do you plan to take the shinkansen to Osaka? If so, it leaves from Tokyo and Shinagawa Stations. You don't need to stay near these, though; it's easy to transfer to them from other areas.

2. It can be tricky, but Tokyo has a lot of vegetarian places. Try a Google search; there are several websites with lists of vegetarian restaurants in Tokyo.

When eating, be careful about broths and sauces - many are meat based.

3. This website has a lot of information about Tokyo. Please do some research yourself to decide what you would like to see.

You say you're a vegetarian so you're not vegan right? Therefore you can still eat fish? If you do it is very easy since many Japanese food is seafood based like their sushi/sashimi. But if you do not eat fish it will be a bit difficult. Your safest bet is to eat Udon/Soba noodles and tofu as well as Yasai tempura.

Avoid noodles in broth because that broth contains dashi, which is made from fish.

Hi. As mentioned above, you can transfer to the shinkansen lines easily so you dont have to stay near Tokyo station or one of the other shinkansen stations.

We have stayed at Shinjuku (didnt like it - too businessy though the Hyatt was nice enough), Shiba Park (quite nice actually with a few things to do in the area, and Shiba Park Hotel was pretty good though the rooms are very small), Maronouchi (the Tokyo stateion area which actually is not that interesting although the Tokyo Station Hotel is truly spectacular if you want to spoil yourself, and it is handy to the airport and the shinkansen lines) and Shibuya (shops and shops and more shops. Great if you like shops. Dormy Inn Premium is awesome value and very nice modern rooms, for the money).

What to do in Tokyo depends on your interests. Ueno park and zoo are nice. Skytree is a bit meh. Asakusa is pretty interesting. Heaps of other places, depending on your interests. Personally I dont like cities, so I'd get out to Nikko or Kamakura/enoshima.

I've stayed at the Arts Hotel in Hamamatsucho. It's only a few stops from the Tokly Station along the Yamanote line. There's a temple (Zojo-ji) and the Tokyo Tower within walking distance, also two gardens. Go up in the World Trade Tower for terrific photos.
