Is there anything going on in Takayama during New Years?
Considering staying there, but not sure if it's exciting or not.
Not looking for anything crazy, just something to see or do.

The thing to do anywhere in Japan on New Year's day is to get in line at a Shinto shrine for Hatsumōde, I enjoyed that experience that only comes around New Year.
