Tokyo to Matsumoto to Kamikochi

I will be traveling with my family to Japan in late May/early June.

En route from Tokyo to Kyoto we would like to visit Kamikochi for hiking. Our plan is to depart Tokyo early on May 25 and travel by train to Matsumoto. We would like to visit Matsumoto Castle while there. After visiting the castle, we plan on taking the train/bus on to Kamikochi. We will stay the night in Kamikochi on May 25, hike on May 26, stay the night in Kamikochi May 26, and then depart for Kyoto May 27 after breakfast.

A few questions:

1) Is it realistic to travel Tokyo-Matsumoto, see Matsumoto Castle, and then travel Matsumoto-Kamikochi all in one day?

2) When does the last train/bus leave Matsumoto to Kamikochi?

3) I'm trying to use Hyperdia for travel planning, but it won't let me enter Kamikochi as a destination or origination. I'm assuming that's because we have to take a bus. Is there a good website to plan arrivals/departures for Kamikochi?
