Shinkansen eki-net costs 2017/1/27 04:51
Hi all,

I have a question about the English Shinkansen reservation website (https://www.eki-net.com/pc/jreast-shinkansen-reservation/English/wb/Co...)

If I'm getting this right, it makes it possible for Japan Rail Pass holders to reserve a seat before they actually arrive in Japan.

But what I don't understand are the costs. You have to give your credit card so I suppose something will be charged.

So do you have to pay for the ticket itself ? (I guess not because this would make the JR Pass useless) Or do you pay some kind of reservation fee?

Thanks!

No, it is free. The credit card info is needed so they can charge you in case of a no-show.
