Help me translate this sentence 2017/5/8 12:07
Hi!
Can anyone here please translate this sentence to me, I understand the sentence but there is this annoying word which I couldn't understand.
Ha ida bakari no kakebuton o nigirishimeta. (the haida thing which I couldn't understand)
I searched a lot but I couldn't find the meaning that would make sense.
Haida is written in hiragana it maybe as well pronunced waida?! maybe...
I hope someone could answer not like HiNative! (no one seems to understand what it means or maybe I'm just annoying).
Thank you so much guys!

It is the verb "hagu/hagimasu," meaning to "remove/rip away (clothing, bed cover, etc.)." The ta-form of "hagu" is "haida."

So the sentence means:
- I/he/she tightly gripped the duvet that has just been removed/ripped away (from the person sleeping/from the bed).

Need more?

hagu : 剥ぐ(はぐ) [[動]動詞/Verb]
http://www.weblio.jp/content/%E5%89%A5%E3%81%90
A 身につけているものを取り去る。脱がす。 「布団を−・ぐ」
A Remove what you are wearing. Remove. ex:" futon wo hagu"
Haida 剥いだ(はいだ) is 過去形(kako-kei/past form) as 能動態(noudou-tai/active voice).

Basically Verb ending -ku/く and -gu/ぐ need add "i/い" in past form(-ta/-da).
But one big exception exist.
行く(i-ku/yu-ku) → 行った(i-tta), No "iita" also "yu-tta".
Also -te iku,yuku,-tte iku,yuku/-て or っていく,ってゆく Verb,too.
歩いて-いく/-ゆく(aruite-iku/-yuku) → 歩いていった(aruite-itta), No "yu-tta".
走って-いく/-ゆく(hasitte-iku/-yuku) → 走っていった(hasitte-itta), No "yu-tta".

And,
Using hiragana for 剥ぐ(剥いだ) is just hard to read for readers youngers mainly.
A lot of strokes and some specific category Kanji often using Hiragana(or Katakana) instead.
Do you think that you can read both Kanji naturally as if you were Japanese?
a) 剥ぐ/剥いだ : hagu/haida or sogu/soida(not using for futon)
b) 剥く/剥いた : muku/muita(not using for futon)
This is one of specific category related fish/魚,bird/鳥,insect/虫 and tree/木 kanji collections.
