Hiroshima -> Kinosaki onsen 2017/8/21 03:11
Hi,

I'm looking at the possibility of going from Hiroshima to Kinosaki Onsen and would appreciate some advice about the reliability of Hyperdia.

It looks like the fastest route would be to combine the Sakura train to Himeji (60ish minutes), and the limited express Hamakaze from Himeji to Kinosaki (around 103 minutes).

The problem is the Hamakaze 3 train that would make this trip a breeze (leaving Himeji at 13:25) isn't showing up on Hyperdia. The interval of the Hamakaze train clearly shows Hamakaze 1 and 5, but not 3:

Various sites on the internet show the existence of the Hamakaze 3, including the JR west website, but this only allows me to see the timetable up until October.

Is Hyperdia bullet proof and knows a reason why the Hamakaze 3 isn't running? Or is it likely it's just missing that route?

As I searched on the JR-West webpage,

http://www.jr-odekake.net

they show Hamakaze 3 departing Himeji at 13:25 and arriving Kinosakionsen at 15:08 as of 21st Oct. They don't show the timetable for November yet.

Jordan shows the timetable for 16th Nov.

Note that both Hyperdia and Jordan are the third party websites so they might be wrong in some cases. Actually, it is very unlikely they show wrong time for the next few weeks, but if you search for months later, they (in my experience, Hyperdia) sometimes return inappropriate results. In this case, Hyperdia shows 13:25 Hamakaze for 21st Sep.
