Visa with Criminal Record (Traffic Offence)?

Hi
First of all, english is not my first language and I'm from an european country :)
I know this question is asked a lot, but i try to have some opinions about my personal case.
I have the chance to do some research for my master thesis at an university in tokio. Since the stay will be longer than 90 day, I will need a visa.
Unfortunately I have a "traffic offence" in my criminal record because of speeding (stupid I know). This happened in 2022 and I had to pay a fine of about 1700 USD and my driving licence was being suspended for 5 months. Since this would fall into the category of "Conviction of a crime or offence in any country" on the visa applying form, I'm worried that I won't get a visa. There was no alcohol or drugs involved and I wasn't in jail either. No one was hurt either.
What's your opinion?
Thank you guys.

That's not a criminal offence in most countries.
You sure it's a criminal offence in your country?

in general, when the fine wad charged at a court, it is a crime. if you received a ticket (in which the amount of fine was written) from a police man, it is not a crime.
