May one pay to use the onsen at Osenkaku, without paying for accommodations at the ryokan? Is it easy to understand how to get to the actual baths once the bus arrives at the place? We do not need to spend the night. thank you!

Yes, you can use the baths without actually staying there between 9:00 and 17:00. I did it a few weeks ago. Admission costs 1500 Yen per person.
It is easy to find, because there are not many other buildings.

Would it also be ok to leave a large backpack at the at the front desk while bathing if not staying overnight?
Or are the bath lockers big enough to store a large backpack?
