Getting to Taketomi from Naha 2009/6/18
Yaeyama Islands
I will be traveling with 2 of my grand daughters over the 4th of July this year. I would like to know how I would go about purchasing a ferry ticket from Naha to Taketomi. Do I first have to travel to Ishigaki? If so how would I then travel on to Taketomi? Also, how much would the fair be and how long would the trip take? Thank you in advance for your response.

I would like to know how I would go about purchasing a ferry ticket from Naha to Taketomi. Do I first have to travel to Ishigaki?

There is no direct ferry service between Naha and Taketomijima, and no longer ferry service between Naha and Ishigaki. You will have to fly to Ishigaki first and then take a short ferry to Taketomijima.

If so how would I then travel on to Taketomi?

From the airport take a short taxi ride to the boat terminal where you can catch a ferry to Taketomijima.

Also, how much would the fair be and how long would the trip take?

Flights between Naha and Ishigaki are about 20,000 one way and takes about an hour. The ferry to Taketomijima is 1100 yen one way and takes 10 minutes.

Website for booking flight. 2009/6/18
Thank you for your fast response. It was very helpful. I've been searching and I can't find the website to book a flight from Naha to Ishigaki. I went to the website you listed and it gave me a lot of useful information but I couldn't find a way to actually book the flight from that sight. Can you help me with this? Thank you again.

I'd book directly from JAL as its the easiest and often cheapest as well.
