Koyasan or Shirakawa-go? 2010/2/26 10:30
Hi guys, I'm tossed between two places I want to go and see. If I were to choose just one, which one do you think it's more worth it? minshuku stay in shirakawago or temple stay at koyasan?

Many Thanks.

Koyasan! 2010/2/26 19:18
Hi there

My personal opinion would be that a night on Mt Koya would prove to be a more unique and treasured experience.

Shirakawa-go is definitely worth a visit but I feel that its attractions are best enjoyed during the day time, rather than needing a night spent there.

On the other hand, a night on Koyasan, including the delicious shojin ryori meals you'll eat, the chance to join the monks for meditative prayers early in the morning and of course the mystical beauty of Okunoin itself, make heading to Wakayama the better choice...

Whichever you decide, I hope you'll have a great trip!
