Himeji under repair. Is it worth going?

Hi,

Originally, i am planning a day trip to Himeji to see the castle.

I also now know it is covered by a temporary cover as it is now under repair for the next 5yrs.

Is it still worthwhile to go to Himeji since we cannot see the castle beauty anymore? Does anybody know how much is being covered up?

any alternative destination to recommend to replace Himeji?

As of now, most of the keep can still be seen, but it will gradually be covered up until it is entirely hidden by the end of the year.

So it depends on the timing of your visit and on how interested you are in castles.

But once the keep is covered up, it will have an obvious major impact on the visit, and I personally would recommend to see a different castle.
