Day trip from Fukuoka to Mount Aso

I am planning a day trip leaving from Hakata in Fukuoka to Mount Aso. I will have a JR pass with me.
Wondering that a day trip to Mount Aso is possible. How can I get to Mount Aso after arriving at JR Aso station?

A day trip to Mt. Aso is doable.
When you get to the station and vicinity, they should have information/staff that will help you learn where to go from there.
While you're at it, you might want to check out Aso Farmland. Fresh farm produce from Aso's agricultural masters. Their vinegar (for drinking) is quite good and tastes like apple cider.
