Two daytrips from Osaka 2010/11/5 16:35
Hello Japan guide folks,

I would like to ask for your help once again regarding two separate day trips.

1st day trip to Yoshino/Asuka area:-

I would like to visit Tanzan, Hasedera and Muroji in a single day. Is this possible and what would be the best means of transportation between the three sites? If I start by taking a kintetsu train to Sakurai then taking a bus to Tanzan, can I then walk or catch a taxi to Hasedera or Muroji rather than backtracking to the station? It's hard to figure how far apart these 3 places are.

2nd day trip to Kizugawa/Kamo area:-

I would like to visit Joruriji, Gansenji and Kaijusenji on a single day. How far are each of these places from the other and is it best to start by taking the JR to Kamo station or Nara station and catching a bus?

Thanks for any information and advice.

It is possible. A rental car is by far the most efficient means of getting around:

The three temples/shrines are far apart from each other. Walking is not possible for the regular tourist. You should use a bus or taxi from Sakurai to access Tanzan Shrine. And use the Kintetsu Line to reach Hasedera and Muroji. The latter requires a short bus or taxi ride from the nearest station.

The details are explained on the following three pages with an illustrating, simplified map:
