How much trains cost/ buses

Can anyone tell me how much a return train ticket from Fukuoka to Kyoto would cost? Also is there a bus and how much would it cost/how long would it take?

Is there a website where I can find out? I want to know if it's cheaper buying individual tickets, rather than buying a JR Pass.

Just remember to use "Hakata" as the from train station as this is the name of the main train station in Fukuoka. The station called "Fukuoka Station" is in a different part of Japan entirely!
