Shinkansen Senior Discount 2011/11/11 10:25
I am a student from a Japanese University. And my both parents, both are above 65, are coming to Japan soon. I wonder there are any discounts for students and senior citizens using Shinkansen or not. Arigatou

As you're Japanese university student, you can get a student discount certification by your university and get about 15-20% discount in fare using the certification.
There is a senior travelers group whose member can get discount ticket, but the group exists mainly for people living in japan and I could only find Japanese website.
If you are planning over 1 week trip using JR trains including Shinkansen, I recommend this rail pass;
