My boyfriend and I are going to Japan for a holiday and thought it would be exciting to do something we can only do in Japan - Kanamara Matsuri in kawasaki. We will stay in Tokyo and travel in to kawasaki for the day (is this best?)
What time does the festival start? How early should we get there to enjoy it most? How late does it finish?

what day is the 2012 Kanamarafestival by the way? is it in 1st April or 8th April?

The event is going to be held on Apr 1 this year. Shrine ritual starts around 11.00 while the main town parade will start from 13.00-14.30. And finally some music and song rituals are held on the shrine ground from 15.00-16.45 http://tomuraya.co.jp/wakamiya-10.htm
