Nagoya to Mt.Fuji 2012/8/1 13:05
hi there,

I plan to go 2 days trip to Mt, Fuji from Nagoya Station and would like to visit the 5th station, cruise on Lake Achi and enjoy the cable car ride to view the mountain.

Could you please advise me on the kind of pass that is economical for such route?

I also plan to stay overnight at Hakone, can you recommend. Which Hakone hotel location is on the way back from Mt, Fuji, so that we can overnight in Hakone and back to Nagoya the next day.

thanks.

The most economical would be taking the bus from Nagoya to Kawaguchiko, but it is not the fastest (you will arrive at Kawaguchiko at 11:40):

Then pay regular fares to get to the 5th Station:

Then pay regular fares to travel by bus from the 5th Station via Kawaguchiko Station and Gotemba Station into Hakone. I recommend a hotel around the Sengoku, Gora or Togendai.

If you were to stay in Gora, you could then take the cablecar and ropeway the next morning to travel to Togendai, take the Lake Ashi cruise and then take a bus down to Mishima Station, from where you could return to Nagoya by shinkansen. A cheaper alternative could be an expressway bus, but I am not exactly sure where would be the easiest bus stop to board it:

As for transportation within Hakone, I am not sure whether paying regular fares would come cheaper than a Hakone Free Pass. But since I am not aware of a place in Gotemba to purchase the pass, I think you do not have the Hakone Free Pass option, anyway.

Dear Uji,

Thank you so much for your advice.

After much thought to the advice given by you, l have decided to buy the 7 day JR pass because I don't have so much time to travel by bus.

Could you please give advice for my journey from Nagoya Station to Mt Fuji 5th station on JR Pass.

Best regards,
