Aso-san in early December

I intend to visit Aso-san in early Dec on my way to Kurokawa onsen from Kumamoto (or on my way back to Kumamoto from Kurokawa Onsen).

Will it be very very cold in Aso-san then ?

Also, how cold does it get on average in Kurokawa onsen duirng that period ?

Averages for the first couple of weeks of December down in Aso Town (the caldera) are between 11‹and 14‹. The crater area which is 500 meters higher can be 5‹or more colder. There can be some snow up on top in some years at this time, but not very much.

Kurokawa averages about a degree warmer than the town of Aso (12‹to 14‹).

Actual temperatures can range 8‹on either side of the average.

I understand there is a sightseeing tour to Aso-san by the bus company from Kumamoto - Kurokawa onsen.

I was told that if it snows in Aso-san, the sightseeing tour will be cancelled, hence my concern.

Do you have a good website for the weather forecast for Aso-san and Kurokawa onsen ?
