Appiled 28th december 2023, still waiting for the coe. Hopefully it comes after the holidays are over.

Crossed the 4th month of waiting & reaching the 5th month soon. Absolutely exhausting but all the updates & people who have received theirs makes the waiting a little more bearable, at least there are people receiving theirs :)

Type: Student Visa

My husband and I received our COEs 2 days ago.
We live in the US and a relative of mine who is in Tokyo took the documents to immigration in person.

Date of application: January 30th
Place: Shinagawa office
Type of visas: Child of a national and spousal visa
Additional documents: Yes. I had to provide one additional document which I submitted in late March.
Approval date: April 22nd but didn�ft arrive in the mail until May 3rd.

I�fm assuming we would have gotten our certificates within 2 months if the extra document had not been required.

We provided lots of pictures, we are also business owners, so I�fm assuming it probably helps to know we won�ft need to find work.

My advice is to read and reread your documents and provide as much information. Make sure everything matches too. Things not matching apparently can cause delays. We followed this blog post to a tee and it obviously worked : http://www.transenzjapan.com/blog/how-to-get-spouse-visa-japan-transen...

Travis was extremely helpful as well and has a whole book on how to apply for a certificate of eligibility.
