157cm and 44kg? That is a BMI of 17.9 Underweight. Anorexia is usually diagnosed with a BMI of 17.5 and under. Not saying the host is anorexic but being jealous of a weight that isn't necessarily healthy depending on height, frame, ethniccity etc.

This obsession with trying to lose lots of weight when a BMI of 18 - 19 is perfectly fine. WHO indicates that the minimum health weight is 18.5 Please be mindful of not becoming unhealthy.

Veggies are great and the japanese diet usually has quite a bit of vegetables. You may want to consider that the Japanese lifestyle also plays a part in their appearence. Lots of walking, less stressed etc

The OP is unfortunately another one of these young ladies that put fashion before common sense and health. Too many slim young Japanese women are actually very unhealthy and will pay dearly, later in life, for their unreasonable eating habits in their youth.

Body Mass Index, by the way, is a very inaccurate tool as it only involves height and total weight, without any concern at all for the ratio of muscle vs fat in the body.
2 persons--or one person at different stages of life--can have the same height and same BMI yet look totally different.
A muscular person will have a slimmer waist than one with more fat than muscles.
BMI should only be used along with measurements of the chest, waist and hips. Mind you there is no need to measure the BMI of a person with a waist bigger than his/her chest and hips to find out if that person is "only" too fat or morbidly obese. Isn't it obvious?

BMI is inaccurate for children/ teens that are growing (their bodies can change a lot from a month to another) and also for athletes and seniors.

To reply to donkey: "You may want to consider that the Japanese lifestyle also plays a part in their appearence. Lots of walking, less stressed etc "

I think you are a bit wrong on the less stressed part. I would say that the average Japanese person is more stressed than just about anyone. Or have you not heard of the high suicide rate, deaths from overworking, people who don't want to go home, cram schools, entrance exams, etc., etc.,

I have to agree with Dr. Bob about the Japanese diet. Now days most Japanese don't eat healthy. I eat school lunch at public Japanese schools and we don't get many vegetables to be honest. There are some in the soups every day (usually onions and cabbage), and then we get a portion of some vegetable related item (sometimes it is tofu, and sometimes there are very little vegetables mixed in with the meat). It is rare that we get fruit.

The Japanese diet can't be too healthy. So many people have problems with constipation that they take medicine for it all the time. Any diet that requires you to take a medicine for that can't be that great.
