Why do you think they would deny me the additional 90 days ? I see no reason for them to do so?!
Because staying an additional 3 months after spending 15 month in Japan on a whv and tourist visa starts to look suspiciously like living in Japan (even if you are legitimately travelling). At that point the would probably prefer that you change over to a proper resident visa.
A friend of mine did the exact same thing and they gave him the addition immediately !!
How long had he been in Japan when he applied? Immigration usually has no problem giving you 180 days a year in country, but tend to consider staying longer than that to be residing in Japan.
